Two Way Interactive Connections
in Education (TWICE) is Michigan's organization for videoconferencing
in K-12 education. TWICE promotes and supports collaborative
connections for the benefit of all students.
Mission Statement
TWICE
promotes and supports collaborative connections using
two way interactive video for the benefit of Michigan
students.
Goals
- Provide learning opportunities
that expand the boundaries of the classroom beyond
the local community, raise global awareness, and
promote cultural and geographical understanding.
- Promote and facilitate
collaborative videoconferences between educators,
students, and technology coordinators for the purpose
of sharing information, best videoconference practices,
and quality curriculum events.
- Promote collaborative
videoconferences that are both point-to-point and
multipoint, where teaching and learning occur during
the connection, and participation and interaction
are required.
- Provide an online centralized
resource for integrating videoconferencing effectively
in education.
- Utilize videoconferencing
to increase students’ advanced communication
skills while addressing Michigan Curriculum Frameworks
and technology standards.
- Create opportunities
for members to network and share videoconference
experiences with each other.

Focus Areas
- Field
Trips. This includes researching, standards
correlation, and evaluations.
- Professional
Development. Coordinating, sharing, and promoting
shared professional development.
- Shared
Classes. Sharing policies, resources, and connecting
high schools that want to share classes.
- Projects.
This includes the Michigan Collaborative/Michigan
Week, ASK, and other such projects.
- Technical
Support. Sharing codec information and more.
Membership
Regular Membership
in the Association shall be open to public or non-profit
educational institutions that are involved in the use
of two-way interactive video conferencing.
1. Intermediate
School Districts or educational service agencies, colleges,
or universities may become regular members by paying
an annual Tier One membership fee.
2. Districts may become Regular members by paying an
annual Tier Two membership fee.
Associate Membership
shall be automatically granted to districts in the service
areas of ISDs or ESAs which are Regular members. Associate
members receive all benefits except to vote and hold
office.
Each dues-paying
educational institution will have one vote within the
organization. Members in good standing are those entities
that have paid their dues by October 31 of the year
in which they are billed.
It is the policy
of this organization that no person shall be discriminated
against, excluded from participation or denied benefits,
on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin
or ancestry, age, sex, sexual preference, marital status
or handicap.
