Two Way Interactive Connections in Education

Kickoff meeting

The first meeting of TWICE started at 9:30 AM in the DeWitt High School distance
learning classroom. Sue Porter and Janine Lim gave an overview of the organization and
presented the TWICE web pages that have been developed to date.

Nominations were accepted for chair, treasurer, and secretary of the coordinating team. A
vote was taken which resulted in:

· Sue Porter, from Kent ISD and Janine Lim from Berrien County ISD as co-chairs
· Arnie Comer, from Macomb ISD as treasurer
· Wanita Kampmueller, from Wexford Missaukee ISD as secretary

The following special presentations were given:

· Internet2 by Greg Marks
· Michigan Week project by Debbie Glascow
· ASK project by Arnie Comer
· Virtual Field Trip Standards correlation by Janine Lim
· Evaluation Site for Virtual Field Trips by Frank Miracola

The participants divided into 5 focus groups to discuss and decide the following:

· What do you need/envision in each focus area?
· What do you want on your area of the site?
· What other projects could/should we plan?
· Choose a coordinator for your focus area.
· Pick 3 issues/action points for each focus area for 2001-2001

Survey of the participants indicated that the majority of the group plan to attend MACUL
(March 6-8, 2002). 11 sessions in a distance learning room will be set aside for the 2002
conference. TWICE will set a time to have a meeting during the MACUL conference.
The next coordinating Team meeting will take place on August 22, 2001 via distance.
St.Clair County Intermediate School District will bridge the conference. Members of the
coordinating team can contact Terry Harrington, Director of Distance Learning, to set a
