Math: Problem Solving

Possible dates/times: Spring.

Learner Outcomes: Brainstorm and problem solving skills.

Methods and Activities: Each team would research and develop a variety of math “story problems “ using local people, places, things. Teachers might wish to suggest problem topics such as ratios, percents, graphing, algebraic problems, etc.

Materials: Paper, pencil, smart board, poster materials.

Time: 1-2 hours

Students Will: Research and create the problems ahead of time to present.

Teachers Will: Facilitate the problem solving during the videoconference.


This project was created in a small group as part of the MACUL 2004 Preconference Session Inspiring Real World Connections with Kids presented by Debbie Glasgow and Janine Lim.
