Registration After Verification
Verified IconYour equipment has to be verified before you can register for Read Around the Planet. You can tell if you are ready for registration this way: Login to CAPspace. Click My Profile, and see if you have a colored equipment icon. If yes, you're ready for registration. If not, you need to get through the verification process.

Getting Ready for Registration to Open

Check over these lists to make sure you're ready for registration to open.

Coordinators, if you are registering for your teachers:

  • The videoconference equipment needs to be entered, tech contacts added, and verified.
  • You should have a list of your registrations with:
  • A note on matching: The system will make sure that only one videoconference is scheduled for each endpoint. You will have a better chance of not ending up in the “leftover” pile if you select all the times you can actually do and let the computer matching program pick your actual time. This is especially true for those buildings who schedule a session every hour for the full event

Coordinators: if your teachers are registering themselves:

  • The videoconference equipment needs to be entered, tech contacts added, and verified.
  • Your teachers need to create/login to their accounts.
  • The teachers need to be “attached” to the verified equipment they will use for RAP. Coordinators, go to Admin, My Equipment, click the endpoint’s name, click “Attach End Users”. (This pulls a list of names from “My People”, so if they aren’t listed under “My People”, you’ll need to add them there first.)

Once you have these steps done, then you’re ready for teacher registration as soon as it opens!

Two Methods for Registration
There are two ways that teacher registration can happen for Read Around the Planet after your equipment is verified. Click My Projects in CAPspce to find current Open Events as shown. Click the event and then click Register.
Registration1

Method 1: Coordinators Register (most common)
Coordinators register for teachers who don’t have an account. Write the teacher name, email & phone in the match request as shown.Registration5
Then select the grade level, the language, and all the time(s) and date(s) that your teacher can do.

Method 2: Teachers Register
Teachers have their own account and register for themselves. For this to work, they have to be connected to verified equipment. See Step 4 in the verification instructions. This is what teachers will see when they click Register.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many registrations should I do?

  • Do one request per match that you need. I.e. If a teacher needs two classes to participate and therefore needs two partners, there should be two requests in the system.
  • Choosing multiple times is best. If at all possible, enter as many times as possible that the teacher can do. This decreases your chances of ending up in the “leftover” pile.

How does the system find us a partner?

  • IP in/out or ISDN in/out (verification lays the foundation for this)
  • Grade level - same level or one level up or one level down
  • Subject/language matches exactly
  • Times you choose (in your time zone!)
  • Location: we do the best we can to get you an out-of-state partner
  • Endpoints: One event scheduled at a time for an endpoint
  • MCUs: Number of events scheduled at one time is based on the limitations entered for the MCU

Before registration closes, double check....

Double Check: Time Zones
The time zone is critical to a correct match. Please double check the time zone. You can see it in two places: My Projects, RAP, and the time zone is listed with the preferred equipment for the match.

Coordinators can also double check the time zones under Admin, My Equipment.

Double Check Your Registrations
Double check your registration(s). We’ve been getting some emails saying, “Am I registered”? You’ll see your registrations listed under My Projects, RAP.
Coordinators with many registrations can use the .csv download to open in your favorite spreadsheet program and check over the registrations.
